ACE’s
Race and Ethnicity in Higher Education project makes clear that colleges and universities must take action to increase the racial and ethnic diversity of their workforces. Faculty and staff diversity has not kept up with the growing diversity of the student body, and people of color are disproportionately relegated to roles of lesser authority and prestige.
This workshop will help college and university leaders to begin (or accelerate) down a path toward creating a more racially diverse faculty and administrator workforce. In addition to the Race and Ethnicity in Higher Education project, the program will be grounded in research on strategies to increase workforce diversity and ways to think about program and policy development, as well as CUPA-HR research into the demographics, compensation, and career trajectories of college and university faculty and staff. The expert facilitators will help college and university leaders determine the right questions to ask and connect them with tools for finding the answers to formulate an actionable plan.
This four-hour workshop (including two two-hour sessions) will be especially valuable for academic administrators who work with multiple academic departments and programs, such as assistant/associate deans and assistant/associate provosts.
