Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide a systematic learning experience in which students build a professional vocabulary based on prefixes, suffixes, word roots, and combining forms. Musculoskeletal system, and diagnostic procedures and pharmacology are studied.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify terminology associated with laboratory tests, clinical procedures, medical charts, and abbreviations that pertain to these systems
  • Understand the basic word structure including but not limited to: pronounce, spell, recognize combining forms and define words associated with the musculoskeletal system, diagnostic procedures and pharmacology

General Topics:

  • Medical terminology, word parts, grammar
  • Muscular system and associated medical terminology
  • Pharmacology, routes of administration, drug classes
