Description

Objective:

This examination is a multiple-choice exam designed to evaluate whether candidates possess the knowledge and understanding that would be gained by taking an upper-level college course in Technical Writing. Content specifications for the exam were developed and approved by a panel of subject matter experts, all U.S. accredited college faculty members who are teaching or have taught a like course within the prior 3 years.

Skills Measured:

The skills measured include theory and practice of technical writing (14 percent); purpose of technical documents (13 percent); persuading and making recommendations (10 percent); technical writing process (14 percent); document design (9 percent); strategies and document design (9 percent); revising, editing, and final sections (12 percent); editing (10 percent); and final sections (9 percent).
