Description

Objective:

The course objective is to provide instruction regarding the identification of sonographic anatomy and the sonographic applications for obtaining diagnostic images of the intracranial and extracranial components of the cerebrovascular system. The lecture portion includes an introduction on 2-D, PW (Pulse Wave) Doppler, and Color Flow imaging in conjunction with vascular calculations for evaluation. The laboratory portion includes extensive practice of 2-D (2-dimensional) and Doppler cerebrovascular protocols. Instrumentation, scan planes, hemodynamics, calculations, and sonographic pathology of the cerebrovascular system will be covered.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Evaluate and identify the pathologies presented within the cerebrovascular system
  • Extensively comprehend the principles of instrumentation to imaging
  • Identify sonographic anatomy of the cerebrovascular system (intracranial and extracranial)
  • Perform a diagnostic protocol of the cerebrovascular system

General Topics:

  • Principles of imaging instrumentation, sonographic anatomy, and common pathologies affecting the cerebrovascular system
