Description

Objective:

The course objective is to introduce sonographic anatomy and applications for obtaining diagnostic images of the heart. Two-dimensional imaging of the parasternal long axis, parasternal short axis, and apical views will be introduced in the didactic and laboratory portion. Instrumentation, scan planes, 2-D (two-dimensional) calculations, and sonographic applications of the heart will be covered.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Extensively comprehend the principles of instrumentation to imaging
  • Identify sonographic anatomy of the heart in the PSLA (Parasternal Long Axis), PSSA (Parasternal Short Axis), and Apical views
  • Perform evaluation of the heart function with Wiggers Diagram, 2-D measurements, and segmental wall evaluation
  • Perform a diagnostic 2-Dimensional protocol of the heart
