Description

Objective:

The course objective is to enable students, through theory and practical application, to develop skills to correctly code diagnoses, symptoms and hospital procedures.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Correctly identify diagnose and disorders
  • Determine the correct code
  • Understand the importance of ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding to reimbursement
  • Develop an understanding of this classification system of coding
  • Abstract information form medical records
  • Identify errors in coding as it applies to compliance and fraud issues
