Description

Objective:

The AP Computer Science A Exam assesses students' understanding of the computational thinking practices and learning objectives outlined in the course framework. It is three hours long and includes 40 multiple-choice and four free-response questions. As part of the exam, students will be given the Java Quick Reference (see Appendix), which lists accessible methods from the Java library that may be included in the exam.

Skills Measured:

The skills measured include electrostatics; designing, implementing, and analyzing solutions to problems; using and implementing commonly used algorithms; developing and selecting appropriate algorithms and data structures to solve new problems; writing solutions fluently in an object-oriented paradigm; writing, testing, and debug solutions in the Java programming language, utilized standard Java library classes and interfaces from the AP Java subset; read and understand programs consisting of several classes and interacting objects; read and understand a description of the design and development process leading to such a program; and understand the ethical and social implications of computer use.
