Description

Objective:

To give the student comprehensive instruction on the theories and practical application of Pennsylvania and federal procedural law with a view toward the student obtaining skills to provide independent litigation support.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Draft a Pennsylvania or Federal Court Civil Complaint
  • Answer a Civil Complaint
  • Prepare or answer a Request for Production of Documents or Interrogatories with minimal supervision by an attorney
  • Prepare settlement papers without mistakes
  • Maintain files and a reminder or 'tickler' system without errors
  • Identify the purpose and sequence of civil trial states
  • Identify the court system to which the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Federal Court belong and the level of the court
  • Identify a hypothetical dispute as a contract or tort situation and be able to analyze the relative merits of both sides' cases
  • Prepare a Notice of Deposition or Subpoena without error
  • Digest a deposition with minimal attorney supervision
  • Prepare without assistance a Pennsylvania Motion or Answer to Motion
