Description

Objective:

The course objective is to introduce the principles of anatomy and physiology, leading to an understanding of the cardiovascular, blood, and lymphatic systems. Inclusive is the study of normal and abnormal body processes and pathophysiology. Diagnostic studies are explored.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Describe the function of the circulatory system
  • Describe the physical characteristics of blood, composition of blood plasma, mechanism of hemostasis, and transfusions
  • Identify diseases of the blood
  • Discuss the lymphatic system, its function, components and diseases
  • Identify the basic anatomy of the heart, blood flow through the heart, and conduction system of the heart
  • Discuss cardiac pathology
  • Discuss various diagnostic procedures to detect heart disease
