Description

Objective:

The course objective is to facilitate a deeper understanding and appreciation of the major threats to the United States and to the Department of Defense (DOD) and to explore strategies for identifying and evaluating those threats.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Analyze threats to US national security from nation states, non-state actors, domestic threats, and insider threats
  • Design a threat assessment process based on the intelligence cycle to address complex organizational security vulnerabilities
  • Compare and contrast the U.S. intelligence community’s relationships, with at least four, other friendly intelligence services or treaty organizations
  • Analyze significant threats to real-world programs, operations, installations, or organizations and plan ways to mitigate those threats
  • Investigate vulnerabilities and threats to US critical infrastructure
  • Assess the challenges security professionals face from the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, modern conventional weaponry, advanced technology, and attacks in the cyber realm, and formulate adaptive response strategies
