Description

Objective:

The course objective is to have students learn medication, classification, infection control principles, as well as OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) and CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) regulations. In the lab, students learn to perform laboratory tests such as hemoglobin, HCT (Hematocrit), and blood glucose and urinalysis. Venipuncture using injection models is also included.

  • Perform specific tests with diagnosis and treatment
  • Identify the elements of an infection cycle and to know how to stop an infection from spreading
  • Understand and apply the standards of OSHA regulations and attain a certification in OSHA
  • Apply principles of aseptic technique and infection control
  • Use quality control
