Description

Objective:

The course objective is for students to gain proficiency and knowledge in key areas of networking analysis including how systems communicate via network traffic, as well as more advanced topics, such as tunneling and redirection. Students will evaluate network representations and use their findings to conduct analyses on the effects.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Describe the fundamentals of data communications, computer networks, and common protocols
  • Explain how common network devices interact with network traffic
  • Demonstrate the ability to traverse a network using tunneling and redirection techniques
  • Analyze network traffic to identify network services and operating systems (OS)

General Topics:

  • Networking communications
  • Network analysis
  • Transport helper protocols
  • Service network discovery
  • Filtering devices
  • File transfer and tunneling redirection
  • SSH forward
  • Reverse tunnels
