Description

Objective:

The course objective is to lay the foundation for mathematical understanding, intended for students who wish to build their proficiency in algebra and further their understanding of mathematics. This course includes a wide range of topics such as the properties of real numbers, equations and inequalities, polynomials and exponents, and functions and their graphs. Students will also delve into more complex concepts like systems of equations, quadratic equations, sequences and series, and exponential and logarithmic functions.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Solve equations involving polynomials, radicals, and rational exponents.
  • Use properties of real numbers and perform the operation to simplify algebraic, radical, and rational expressions, scientific notations, nth roots, and factoring the polynomial.
  • Use algebraic methods to find the domain, range, and inverse of functions, and perform transformations on basic graphs.
  • Sketch graphs of rational functions and polynomial functions.
  • Solve and graph exponential and logarithmic functions.
  • Solve quadratic equations using methods of factoring, completing the square, the quadratic formula, and graphing.
  • Solve linear equations and inequalities in one and two variables.
  • Solve systems of linear equations using graphical, substitution and elimination methods.
