Description

Objective:

To build a professional vocabulary based on prefixes, suffixes, word roots, and combining forms. Systems explored include respiratory, urinary, endocrine, reproductive, nervous, and sense organs.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Spell and define medical terms
  • Relate medical terms to the structure, function, and pathologies of the human body
  • Gain awareness of certain common pathological conditions in the systems studied
  • Accurately recognize and pronounce medical terms
  • Analyze and understand medical terms through knowledge of prefixes, suffixes, and root words
  • Correctly recognize and use medical terms in a variety of situations, including case studies, medical charts, laboratory reports, professional journals, communicating with medical personnel and clients
