Established in 1982, the Medical-Legal Consulting Institute, Inc., provides distance education in the field of legal nurse consulting. Upon successful completion of a proctored certification examination, the student obtains a CLNC^® Certification.The Institute's mission is to positively impact the legal and health care systems; to promote high standards of quality and professionalism in the practice of legal nurse consulting; and to inspire excellence in consulting through education.The Institute Leader is Vickie L. Milazzo, RN, MSN, JD, a pioneer in the field, who has been a successful legal nurse consultant since 1982. Most of the distance education courses are designed to teach her proven step-by-step approach for developing a successful practice as a legal nurse consultant.Our courses are designed to allow students to study at their own pace in the comfort of their own home. Medical-Legal Consulting Institute consultants are available Monday through Friday 8:00-4:30 p.m. central time to assist students and answer questions regarding the course of instruction and the practice of legal nurse consulting. Students can call our toll-free number for assistance.All of our programs are nationally approved for nursing continuing education. The CLNC^® Certification Program is approved for 92.7 contact hours. Vickie Milazzo Institute is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Texas Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. This Activity meets Type I criteria for mandatory continuing education requirements toward re-licensure as established by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas. This program is also approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #9643, for 75 contact hours.
