Organization

The United Auto Workers (UAW) and Ford Motor Company established the Education, Development, and Training Program in 1982 as part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The agreement charters the program to be responsive to the personal, educational, and training needs of UAW-represented hourly employees of Ford Motor Company.The program is administered by the UAW-Ford National Educational Development and Training Center (NEDTC) located in Dearborn, Michigan, under the direction of a joint governing body consisting of company and UAW representatives.The UAW serves more than 1,500,000 active and retired workers throughout the United States and Canada. Ford Motor Company manufactures, assembles, and markets its cars, trucks, tractors, and related automotive products through independent dealerships in the United States and Canada. The company has approximately 100,000 hourly UAW-represented workers in 20 states. More than 70 locations are serviced by the UAW-Ford NEDTC.
