Ji Hye “Jane” Kim is a senior analyst at the American Council of Education (ACE). In this role, Kim produces original papers and briefs that inform policy audiences and institutional leaders, particularly in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion in education; student success; and internationalization on U.S. campuses. Kim also contributes to a variety of council-wide efforts by conducting data analysis and background research.
Prior to joining ACE, Kim served as a policy researcher at Korean Education Development Institute (KEDI) in South Korea, where she conducted policy evaluation and data analysis for the Korean Ministry of Education and other education administrators. She also served as a U.S. correspondent for a magazine published by KEDI, writing articles about the current issues in U.S. education.
Kim earned a PhD in education policy studies from The Pennsylvania State University with a dual-title degree in comparative and international education. Kim’s doctoral dissertation examined how students’ socioeconomic status shaped their educational pathways from middle school to college. She holds a master’s degree in education administration and a bachelor’s degree in education with a teaching certificate from Chung-Ang University in South Korea.
