The course objective is to prepare students for completion of Motor Control, Level III. In this course advanced control concepts are introduced including analog signals used with sensors and variable speed drives. Also included in this section is the use of programmable controllers in motor control, and control applications using special motors such as stepper, synchronous, or servomotors. Each lesson in this workbook progresses slowly through the fundamental concepts of motor control and builds on the prior lesson to enable the apprentice to correctly and efficiently troubleshoot motor control issues. Beginning with a brief history of motor control and the organizations, which set the standards for motor control equipment, the lessons continue to immediately explore manual pilot devices, automatic devices, motor starters and control relays.
