Why does community engagement rhetoric often fall short of practice? How can higher education institutions turn rhetoric into action?
These topics and more will be examined in the webinar Community Assets, Reciprocity, and Other Ideas We Don't Really Believe.
This Carnegie Elective Classifications webinar, which will be Feb. 1 at 3:00 p.m. ET, will explore why rhetoric and convictions often fall short of practice and outline what can be done to put ideas into action. Panelists will analyze the barriers that institutions face in pursuing reciprocity and the benefits of focusing on partnerships to achieve reciprocity.
Joined by Dr. Byron P. White, associate provost for urban research and community engagement at the University of North Carolina Charlotte, the webinar will also spotlight UNC Charlotte's Community Innovation Incubator model on sharing authority, responsibility, and accountability with community partners.
This is the latest Carnegie Elective Classifications webinar led by ACE. In 2022, ACE and the Carnegie Foundation announced a partnership on the Carnegie Classifications of Higher Education, in which the Universal and Elective Classifications were brought together in a single organizational home for the first time at ACE.
