Description

Objective:

The course objectives are to provide: 1) instruction that will enable students to acquire entry-level employability skills and job competencies in the printing industry and 2) hands-on training in the actual live work of printing services to the Department of Corrections (VADOC).

Learning Outcomes:

  • use basic computer software related to print production and graphic design
  • utilize machines in a business environment such as copiers and plate making machines
  • understand and demonstrate operation of sheet-fed offset press and printers; operation of collator
  • demonstrate how to use a stapler, numbering machine, hole punch and folder as well as other printing equipment
  • estimate printing jobs and plan for production
