Description

Objective:

To enable students to: 1) gain a more advanced proficiency in keyboarding skills; 2) gain proficiency in the configuration of operating systems and application software; 3) gain proficiency and understanding of Microsoft Office Suite software applications and its usage in the business environment; and 4) gain proficiency in navigating a networked or stand-alone system environment.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Perform keyboarding proficiency on the alphanumeric keyboard at a minimum rate of 55 wpm (words per minute) with 80% accuracy
  • Assess the advanced features of Microsoft Word software
  • Create multipage professional business documents
  • Identify and define basic computer networking terminology and concepts
  • Utilize basic operations and functions of spreadsheet software, database management, and desktop publishing software
  • Simulate basic installation and configuration of software in a business setting
  • Demonstrate understanding and utilization of presentation software
  • Create projects that require the integration of two or more software applications
  • Identify and describe skills and techniques utilized in searching and applying for jobs; interviewing skills; and proper habits and behaviors suitable for the workplace
  • Identify key functional business aspects that a worker should know to succeed in the industry
