For Faculty

ACE review teams embrace the philosophy that what an individual learns is more important than when, where, and how the individual learned it. An ACE evaluation is a rigorous, hands-on process conducted by a team of teaching faculty from relevant academic disciplines, representing the diversity of colleges and universities. Faculty evaluators review both military training and occupations as well as programs, courses, and exams for a variety of organizations through ACE's Learning Evaluations (formerly CREDIT®).

For each review, ACE creates specialized teams to assess and validate whether the courses, occupations, professional examinations, or other learning experiences have the appropriate content, scope, and rigor for college credit recommendations that may be eligible for academic transfer (actual credit transferred is solely at the discretion of the college or university). Credit recommendations for military courses and occupations appear in the Military Guide and for Learning Evaluations in the ACE National Guide.

Becoming a Faculty Evaluator

We are always looking for new faculty evaluators who are receptive to recommending academic credit for learning in an extra-institutional setting.

If you are teaching college-level courses at an accredited institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and have been teaching for at least five years, we invite you to apply to join our team. Evaluators for apprenticeship programs may also be master instructors in industry.

Serving on an Evaluation Team

ACE Learning Evaluations teams consist of subject-matter experts and ACE staff. ACE staff identify academic specialists to serve on the team based on courses taught, input from postsecondary educational institutions and organizations, industry experience, and recommendations from colleagues.

ACE creates specialized teams for each review based on the required academic areas, balance between new and experienced evaluators, diversity in the representation of the type of higher education institution, and overall composition of the team.
