The electrical training ALLIANCE was created in 1941 and has developed into what, perhaps, is the largest apprenticeship and training program of its kind. Local programs affiliated with the electrical training ALLIANCE have trained over 350,000 apprentices to Journeyman status without cost to the taxpayers. This joint program between the National Electrical Contractors Association and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers has clearly demonstrated the most cost effective way to train qualified craft workers.Those in electrical training ALLIANCE training programs are not a burden to the taxpayers for they are earning while they are learning. Each year, participants in the electrical training ALLIANCE programs pay in excess of six hundred million dollars in taxes. This is truly a model program as it takes little to nothing from the taxpayers while training some of the most productive workers in the world who thereby pay tremendous dollars to the country. Skill, knowledge and attitude are the main focus in all of the electrical training ALLIANCE's training programs.The electrical training ALLIANCE is headquartered in Bowie, Maryland. The Executive Director, appointed by the Executive Committee, administers the program, and the national office is responsible for curriculum development, production, and distribution. Additionally, the electrical training ALLIANCE develops national standards, operational procedures, and curriculum for local implementation. Workshops are conducted on a national, regional, and local level to ensure that national policies and curricula are understood, implemented, and properly utilized. Additionally, the electrical training ALLIANCE conducts an annual training institute, which is presented at a major university specializing in educator development. This full week of college-level professional training is dedicated to the development of instructional skills, technological awareness, curriculum enhancement and a superior educational system. The institute is designed to be an accumulative four-year educational experience for all instructors teaching in the electrical training ALLIANCE's programs. To accomplish this mission, the institute maintains a full-time staff comprised of curriculum specialists, technical writers, clerical and secretarial professionals, and other personnel.
