Alexander Cassell is a national engagement associate in the Division of Government Relations and National Engagement at the American Council on Education (ACE). In this role, he serves on projects related to state and federal policy, including the economic impact of institutions, veterans and military learners, athletics, and science and research policy. He previously worked as a research associate in the Education Futures Lab at ACE.
Prior to joining ACE, Cassell was a graduate research assistant with the InformEd States Higher Education Policy Initiative, a clearinghouse for evidence-based research on state higher education funding policies. In this role, he worked on a team building and analyzing datasets on both performance-based funding and financial aid policies in all 50 states.
Cassell holds a PhD in higher education from The Pennsylvania State University, a master’s degree from the University of Georgia Institute of Higher Education, and a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from East Tennessee State University.
