A discussion about how colleges and universities can address inequity
issues on campus and increase access to education, research and
community investment will be one of the featured plenary sessions at ACE2016, ACE’s 98th Annual Meeting scheduled for March 12-15 in San Francisco.
The session supports one of ACE2016’s four plenary themes, Equity and
Social Justice, and will be held March 14 from 8:00 a.m.–9:30 a.m.
(PST).
The discussion will be moderated by Renu Khator, chair of ACE's Board
of Directors, chancellor of the University of Houston System and
president of the University of Houston. The panelists are Kent McGuire,
president and CEO of the Southern Education Foundation, an organization
that advances equity and excellence in education for all students in the
South— particularly low-income students and students of color—and Marta
Tienda, Maurice P. During ’22 professor in demographic studies and
professor of sociology and public affairs at Princeton University (NJ).
ACE2016 is the country’s premier higher education event, bringing
together nearly 2,000 higher education leaders to network with one
another, hear from thought leaders and newsmakers discussing the most
pressing issues of the day and explore practical solutions that work for
their institutions.
